Shohreh was incredible to work with as a nutrition coach and I could tell from the very beginning that she wasn’t your typical coach. She really got to know me, my lifestyle, and my personal struggles with food. Instead of creating a shopping list, or list of “good foods /bad foods,” we worked on mindset training and creating healthy behaviors and habits. I am feeling more and more free from obsessive and demeaning emotional food thoughts. I’ve also never eaten this healthy in such a consistent manner, and my body is responding!
Shohreh completely changed my view of coaches and my overall mentality on exercise, nutrition, and what living a healthy life looks like. As a chronically overweight person, I'd become afraid of trainers, nutritionists, and even doctors because they'd always tell me the same things (with a definite element of shame, of course), blame any health issues on my weight, or try to force their specific opinions on me without explanation or allowing me any input. Shohreh never did any of those things. She didn’t tell me that I HAD to do anything or give me recommendations without explanation. She didn’t shame me for my weight or even suggest that there's anything wrong with me. Shohreh empowered me in a way that no health professional ever has. She’s understanding, empathetic, and honest on top of being extremely knowledgeable in her field.
Shohreh worked with me to design a fitness program that worked with my busy and sometimes unpredictable work schedule, and she performed an initial personalized fitness assessment and continued to re-assess my fitness abilities and goals so that we could make the most out of our time together. She also made herself available outside of our sessions to answer any questions I had about strength training, cardio, nutrition, or any other wellness-related matters. Her expansive knowledge of all things fitness and nutrition and her passion for coaching came through at all times.
When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I threw my regular exercise routine out the window and indulged in whatever I was craving (in large quantities). After my son was born via cesarean, I was unsure how to eat well, get back into a workout routine that would be safe yet effective, and prioritize my health in a schedule that was already overloaded by work and my new responsibilities at home. Lucky for me, there's Glitter & Grit and the powerhouse wellness coach behind the business - Shohreh Davoodi. She taught me that good nutrition is manageable, and she developed a coaching program tailored to my jam-packed lifestyle. It wasn't long before my core healed from the surgery and I was able to regain some "me time" every day, which makes me much better at home and at work.
I decided to hire Shohreh as my coach because I felt as if my life revolved around sitting—at work, at home, on the weekends. Just kind of being stuck. I wanted to increase my movement and also build up my strength so I could handle the big, strong dogs at the shelter I volunteer at. There was also the fact that even though I had taken baby steps to start eating better, I needed someone to help me go the extra mile. Shohreh challenges me without being mean, instructs me without being condescending, and genuinely encourages me while also making me laugh.
I have been looking for years for a health and wellness routine that meets my needs, holds me accountable, and, most importantly, that I enjoy. Strength training with Shohreh has been very transformative in a very short amount of time. I really liked how we didn't jump in ahead of ourselves. She kept my workouts at a slow, steady increase, and in no time I was lifting more than I ever have before, feeling great about my body, and seeing results in day-to-day life. With Shohreh it isn’t about how hard you can push yourself until you’re miserable but about staying consistent and improving at a pace you enjoy - which actually kept me wanting to go back to the gym instead of giving up like I normally do. You can feel good in your skin, and finding freedom from punishing exercise and restrictive dieting behaviors will help you to do so.
